Outdoor Team Building in Nature
The Wilderness Academy is an outdoor team-building day where you put your phones away and use your hands instead. Here, you’ll build a campfire without lighters, find your way without GPS, hit the mark with a bow, and create functional items out of rope and wood—all together under the open sky.
It’s about learning something new alongside your colleagues, with nature as your starting point. Here, titles and office hierarchies fade away, and curiosity, patience, and teamwork determine how far you go.
You decide what the day will entail. Do you want to dive deep into a single craft, or rotate through several disciplines? Should it be relaxed and fun, or a competition with a winner at the end? We’ll tailor the day to your team, your skill level, and your schedule, and our experienced instructors will make sure everyone can join in from the very first minute.
How it works
You’ll meet out in nature, where the instructors will be waiting with all the equipment. After a brief welcome and introduction, you’ll get started on the day’s challenges.
You try it out for yourselves, make mistakes, adjust, and master it little by little with an instructor right there to help. You combine several modules, and the teams rotate among stations so there’s always something to do.
We'll tailor the pace and depth to your needs and can wrap up with a small tournament and awards ceremony if you'd like to include a competitive element.

The Wilderness Academy consists of five outdoor modules. Choose one and explore it in depth, or combine several for a varied day. None of the modules require any prior experience, and all are led by an instructor.
Campfires and Fire – Taming the Flames
The team learns how to start and control a campfire, even when the weather is unpredictable. You’ll work with natural materials and build different types of campfires for cooking, warmth, and a cozy atmosphere.
Knots and Ties – Master the Rope
The right knots can do more than duct tape. The team learns how to set up tarps and shelters, secure equipment, and lashe gear. Problem-solving and craftsmanship in their purest form.
Map and Compass – Find Your Way Without GPS
The timeless art of navigating with a map and compass. You’ll orient the map, take bearings, and solve specific navigation tasks in the field.
Archery – Hit the Mark
Try your hand at modern compound bows and experience the calm that comes when concentration, technique, and breathing come together in perfect harmony. We’ll wrap up with a tournament.
Bushcraft – Craftsmanship in Nature
Cut, chop, and shape wood into functional items. A butter knife, a wooden spoon, or something else you can take home. A safe introduction to using a knife and an axe.

Bonfires and Fire
Learn how to start and control a fire under changing conditions using nature’s own resources. You’ll build different types of fires depending on the purpose—cooking, warmth, or simply enjoying the moment—find dry fuel even in wet weather, and try several fire-starting methods, from modern fire starters to flint, steel, and fire drills. Along the way, you’ll gain a basic understanding of the interaction between fuel, oxygen, and heat, and experience the joy of creating fire with your own hands, together.
Knots and Ties
With the right knots and ties, you can tackle tasks safely and efficiently in the great outdoors. You’ll learn the most useful knots for outdoor activities—from setting up tarps and shelters to securing equipment and lashing gear—and when to use each knot. It’s problem-solving, concentration, and craftsmanship in its purest form—and a powerful teamwork exercise when the whole team has to arrive at the same solution.
Map and Compass
A simple, reliable, and timeless way to find your way when technology fails. You’ll learn the map’s layout and symbols, how to orient the map correctly with a compass, take bearings, and plan a route—and put it all to the test in the field with real-world navigation tasks. It strengthens concentration, spatial awareness, and teamwork, and builds the confidence to navigate independently, even without a cell phone.
Archery
Precision, focus, and one of humanity’s oldest skills. You’ll try your hand at modern compound bows and learn about safety, proper shooting stance, and technique. You’ll learn how to aim and focus, control your breathing, and release the arrow to improve your accuracy. Once you’ve mastered the technique, we’ll crown the day’s top archer in an exciting tournament where everyone can participate, regardless of experience.
Bushcraft – Craftsmanship in Nature
Create functional items using wood and simple tools. You’ll learn to carve, chop, and shape wood into useful items—a butter knife, a wooden spoon, a camping tool—and receive a thorough, safe introduction to using a knife and an axe, as well as how to keep your tools sharp. Bushcraft fosters creativity, patience, and craftsmanship, and provides a deeper understanding of nature’s materials and possibilities.

What is the Wilderness Academy?
The Wilderness Academy is a customized outdoor team-building day in nature, where you’ll learn practical outdoor skills together as a team. Campfires, bushcraft, archery, knot-tying, and outdoor navigation—you choose which modules to participate in and how deeply you want to explore each area. Experienced instructors ensure that everyone can participate.
Does it require experience or good physical fitness?
No, we cater to all skill levels, and you don’t need to be in any particular physical condition. The activities can be adapted to bring out different skills. Please contact us if you have any special needs.
Where is it being held?
Outdoors in nature. We’re based on Zealand and the islands and can find a scenic spot near you—or use your own location. Activities on Funen and in Jutland are possible for an additional transportation fee, which will be calculated in your quote based on your location preferences.
How many people can participate?
Payment is based on a minimum of 20 participants, but you can also participate as a group of 10. Each instructor can handle up to 20 participants, and we scale up by adding more instructors and stations for larger groups.
Can we combine multiple modules?
Yes, that's the whole idea. Choose one module and dive deep into it, or combine several for a varied day with rotating sessions. We'll work closely with you to tailor the program to your desired outcomes and duration.
Can it be held in bad weather?
Yes. The activities take place outdoors year-round. Lighting a campfire in the rain is practically part of the fun. Dress for the weather, and we’ll adjust the program as needed.
